The Client selected BugRaptors for Laboratory information system (LIS) application testing. Client wanted to launch Laboratory services in a hospital and hired us to assure all the calculations and quality parameters through rigorous web application testing.

Client approached us to trace all the data parameters via Red/Green indicators. Apart from that, client demanded to track all the things Ordered, Collected, Received and Resulted functionality in app for every patient.

Product Overview

The product is a Web Application and used in a hospital for managing various types of laboratory services. This business model allows doctors to check the delays of samples taken in hospital. It helps doctors and patients to understand and know about their samples (For ex: blood/Urine) data within the application.

Following are the main features of this web application:

  • Application supports two internet Browsers (Edge & Chrome)
  • Supports sending data via HL7 messages and get the information from Database tables displayed on GUI.
  • The additional features of this application are Print the report, Refresh the page and view a PDF (Like Tour), Add Notes etc.
  • Display the data in the form of graphs and charts in all the Reports.

Challenges and Requirements

  • The client wanted to make the application available on the cloud (TBD: AWS, Google, or Azure), relevant data stores, and tools.
  • Keeping usability in mind, validate the app to make it able for 15 min session time and 30 seconds inactivity time.
  • Provide HL7 standards and PowerBi services.
  • Client wanted to track every step for user performed from the web application. He also wanted to capture a variety of messages from different configurations.

  • Providing testing for Laboratory information system is of-course challenging and complex too. We utilized our thought-leadership with best strategies to manage the application testing process in a well-manner.
  • We used the Test Script Recorder to trace Ajax request in the application and also used JUnit scripts by integrating WebDriver.
  • We cover major testing types such as usability testing, functional testing, database testing and other stages like performance testing to satisfy the quality needs of this app.
  • We also recommend the client to automate the smoke test scenarios.
  • In the end, we reported to the client and gave multiple suggestions to improve the user-friendly of his application.
